Madeline B. Dennis

Madeline Dennis is an experienced litigator with a focus on defending medical device and pharmaceutical companies against product liability and personal injury claims.

For several years, Madeline served on a Tucker Ellis team defending a large medical device manufacturer in hundreds of cases nationwide involving transvaginal mesh. She held leadership roles on the briefing team in coordinating and conducting discovery efforts and in developing strategy for trials, including acting as trial counsel in mock jury exercises.

Madeline enjoys working up cases and directing case strategy. She has experience in taking effective expert-witness depositions and obtaining favorable rulings in the Daubert and dispositive motion context. She has led briefing teams and given oral argument related to the key defense of federal impossibility preemption. Madeline has had considerable multidistrict litigation involvement, including serving as defense counsel in MDLs related to transvaginal mesh, prescription opioids, diabetes drugs, and chemotherapy agents. In 2022, she obtained a complete defense verdict in a medical malpractice case on behalf of a large hospital system. Madeline also defends individual cases involving orthopedic devices and consumer products.

Since joining Tucker Ellis as a summer associate in 2012, Madeline has gained considerable experience developing case-specific theories and with complex brief writing, including summary judgment, Daubert issues, pre-trial, and trial motions. She has served as an active member on trial teams for numerous federal trials. She stays abreast of key issues in national defense litigation via active involvement in the Defense Research Institute (DRI) Drug and Medical Device Law Committee.

Madeline grew up in Cleveland and played soccer for Case Western Reserve University. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, running, meditating, cheering for the Cleveland Cavaliers, and spending time with her husband, two toddlers, two dogs, and large Cleveland-based extended family.
