Tucker Ellis Secures Defense Verdict for Client in First Talc Mesothelioma Trial
November 2017
On November 16, a jury in Los Angeles Superior Court delivered a defense verdict to Johnson & Johnson (J&J) in its first trial over allegations that its talcum powder contains asbestos and caused plaintiff’s mesothelioma. In Tina Herford et al. v. Johnson & Johnson et al., the jury found J&J not negligent in its manufacture or design of its baby powder or Shower to Shower products, nor did the company fail to warn consumers that the products caused mesothelioma.
Tucker Ellis attorney Sharla J. Frost represented J&J, assisted by Gwendolyn Frost, Jonathan Cooper, and Jeffrey Healy, with co-counsel Morton Dubin of Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP and Alexander Calfo of King & Spalding LLP.
The mesothelioma defense verdict was the first of two such verdicts obtained by Tucker Ellis for two clients in two consecutive days. Read more here.
