Tucker Ellis Expands National IP Practice with Kroll, Steele, and Clunk

Tucker Ellis LLP is pleased to announce that intellectual property attorneys Howard Kroll, David Steele, and Patrick Clunk have joined the firm, further expanding Tucker Ellis’s capabilities within its thriving national intellectual property practice.

“Howard, David, and Patrick add another impressive layer of expertise to our burgeoning national IP practice,” said Tucker Ellis Intellectual Property Group Chair Jay Campbell. “We’re looking forward to seeing their talent and experience shape our practice.”

Mr. Kroll joins the firm’s Los Angeles office as a partner. A career litigator, he handles lawsuits involving claims of copyright and trademark infringement, cybersquatting, Internet law, and trade secrets at the trial and appellate level. He protects the intellectual property of cell phone providers, computer companies, and jewelry companies, and is also experienced in complex commercial litigation. Mr. Kroll earned his law degree at the University of Southern California and his undergraduate degree cum laude at Claremont McKenna College.

Mr. Steele also joins the Los Angeles office as a partner. He practices in trademark and Internet law, and protects well-known trademarks from all types of infringement. He has successfully handled hundreds of cybersquatting matters, including numerous federal cybersquatting cases. Mr. Steele earned his undergraduate degree in electrical engineering at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. He earned his law degree at Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, where he teaches trademark and Internet law as an adjunct professor.

Mr. Clunk joins the firm’s Cleveland office as counsel. He represents and advises clients in patent and trademark preparation and prosecution and handles patent interferences and patent appeals before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. He is experienced in preparing patent infringement, validity, patentability, and freedom-to-market opinions, and he counsels clients in technologies including surgical and medical devices, LED lighting, aerospace control systems, gas turbine fuel systems, filtration and refrigeration systems, and hydraulic circuits. Mr. Clunk earned his law degree at the University of Dayton School of Law. He earned his undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering with a minor in mechanical design and manufacturing at the University of Dayton.
