Congratulations to the John Hay Early College Mock Trial Team for winning Second Place in the Cleveland Mock Trial Competition held on April 26. John Hay – supported by Tucker Ellis and coached by Karen Ross – also took home the Overall Competition Best Witness Award and individual Trial Awards for both Best Attorney and Best Witness.

The Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association’s (CMBA) annual program gives Cleveland high school students a chance to prepare their best legal arguments for an exciting day of competition with their peers. Coached by volunteer attorneys and law students, the teams take turns representing the prosecution and defense in a criminal appeal, giving them the opportunity both to hone their legal skills and to learn more about important issues facing teens today.
