On May 11-12, DRI presented its Drug and Medical Device Seminar, “Defending the Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Industry.” Mollie Benedict, Sherry Knutson, and Corena Larimer participated on the Steering Committee for the Drug and Medical Device Committee, with Mollie as head of Publications – Defense Library Series, Sherry as Marketing Vice Chair, and Corena as Young Lawyers Liaison. The seminar explored the practice of law in TED-style talks by deans of the defense bar, identified best practices in defending against litigation tourism, shared the lessons of 30 years of defense practice, discussed ways to deal with past client transgressions and defend against punitive damages, and provided practical tips on the use of personal technology in the courtroom. The annual seminar is the foremost educational and networking opportunity for practitioners in the pharmaceutical and medical device defense space.
