On December 5, Vicky Vance was a panelist in a live webinar hosted by Med-IQ, the medical education company affiliated with Coverys – a national medical liability insurer – to share strategies to improve patient safety in the perioperative care areas. The webinar was part of Coverys’s annual High Risk Webinar series, focusing on areas with a high incidence of claims that carry a higher rate of exposure for large value losses. Joining Vicky in the presentation were a practicing anesthesiologist and a Coverys risk professional. The panelists highlighted potential areas of clinical risk and identified strategies for risk mitigation and successful defense strategies, while presenting historical claims data and exploring three case studies through the lens of clinical care, claims risk, and legal/trial issues.
