Chelsea Mikula and Jen Steinmetz Speak at DRI’s 2025 Women in the Law Seminar

On February 27, Chelsea Mikula and Jen Steinmetz spoke at DRI’s 2025 Women in the Law Seminar in San Antonio, Texas.

Chelsea co-presented “Empathy Against the Egregious: Navigating Sex Abuse and Other Psychologically Traumatic Injuries Using a Trauma-Informed and Empathetic Approach in Litigation.” Using their experience defending sex trafficking lawsuits, the presenters discussed the importance of understanding the impact of trauma and how empathy toward litigants can not only be used as an effective strategy in litigation but can also showcase our humanity when defending these types of difficult cases.

Jen co-presented “Artificial Intelligence: Best Practices for Counsel in a Brave New World.” The presenters provided an overview of the benefits, risks, and mitigation strategies related to AI use; explained the importance of implementing a corporate AI use policy; discussed tools and best practices for AI use; and provided an update on current regulations relating to AI across the globe.
