Madeline Dennis is an experienced litigator with a focus on defending hospitals, physicians, and medical device and pharmaceutical companies against product liability and personal injury claims.
Madeline serves as local and national trial counsel for hospitals, manufacturers, and other businesses. Since joining Tucker Ellis as a summer associate in 2012, she has coordinated discovery efforts, complex brief writing, jury exercises, and trials. Madeline enjoys working with expert witnesses and has experience taking effective expert witness depositions and obtaining favorable rulings in the Rule 702 and dispositive motion context. She has given oral argument on the key defense of federal impossibility preemption.
Madeline has had considerable multidistrict litigation involvement, including serving as defense counsel in MDLs related to chemotherapy agents, blood thinners, diabetes drugs, transvaginal mesh, and prescription opioids. In 2022 and 2023, she obtained complete defense verdicts in two medical malpractice trials on behalf of a large local hospital system. In 2024, she served on a trial team on behalf of an infant formula manufacturer that resulted in a complete defense verdict. Madeline also defends individual cases involving orthopedic devices and consumer products.
Madeline grew up in Cleveland and played soccer for Case Western Reserve University. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, running, meditating, cheering for the Cleveland Cavaliers, and spending time with her husband, two toddlers, dog, and large Cleveland-based extended family.
