On November 7, Laura Hong spoke at the 2015 National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) Annual Convention. Laura, a past president of NAPABA, joined other panelists – including experienced judges, in-house counsel, and other trial lawyers – to present “A Seat at the Table: Witness Prep & Other Essential Trial Skills for Young Lawyers.” The panel provided the nuts and bolts of effective witness preparation and direct-/cross-examinations to young lawyers whose first trial experiences may be as second chair to a more experienced trial attorney. The panelists also discussed their expectations for successful young trial attorneys and give concrete advice on how to make the most of the second-chair experience as a young APA attorney in order to excel as a first-chair trial attorney.
