Tucker Ellis Hosts Job Shadow Program in San Francisco
November 2016
On November 10, Tucker Ellis hosted its fifth annual Job Shadow program in San Francisco. The program provides students an introduction to the civil justice system and explores various available careers in civil litigation. Thirteen students and two teachers from Pinole Valley High School Law and Justice Academy participated in this year’s program, where they learned the difference between the criminal and civil justice systems, where products liability fits in, and what Tucker Ellis attorneys do at the firm. Using case studies of fact patterns from actual trials, the students learned ways to determine liability, damages, and awards to be sought and how to choose a jury. Peggy Doyle leads the program in San Francisco, with Brandon Cox, Amanda Villalobos, and Ndubisi Ezeolu participating by videoconference to demonstrate the firm’s technology.
The Pinole Valley Law and Justice Academy prepares students for various law- and law enforcement-related careers, with many opportunities to interact with professionals in professional settings. The Job Shadow program is part Tucker Ellis’s award-winning Pipeline Program, intended to increase the percentage of minorities and economically disadvantaged students pursuing a career in law.
