Art Mertes spoke at “PRISM” – the inaugural Private Directors Association (PDA) National Conference & Exhibition – held in Chicago on September 17-18. The national event united PDA members for a unique blend of learning, networking, collaboration, and interactive exhibits. In the top legal issues part of the program, moderated by PDA’s Rebecca Wing, Esq., Art provided guidance on key legal developments in two important areas that every private company board member needs to have on their immediate radar: (1) the Corporate Transparency Act, including background information, imminent dates, who must comply, supporting due diligence, and penalties for not complying; and (2) the importance of developing a company’s artificial intelligence policy, in light of both opportunities and potential risks of exposure that AI presents.
