On September 20, 2014, Tucker Ellis participated in the Eighth Annual Dragon Boat Festival. This was the third year our firm had a dragon boat in the event. The festival, which takes place right on the very banks of our Cleveland location, acknowledges dragon boat history and its connection with Asian culture, and promotes the people and unique cultures of Cleveland’s Asian community. Proceeds from the festival are donated to The Gathering Place, a caring community that supports, educates, and empowers individuals and families touched by cancer.

Co-captains Paula Gavlen and Jackie Cabral led a team of 20 paddlers, plus Henry Billingsley as steersman and drummer Rose Hale, who kept the team’s paddling in sync. Our dedicated Dragon Boat team spent the summer practicing on the Cuyahoga River to build stamina and team mojo. A great time was had by all – a true testament to our firm’s motto: different and better!
