Carter Strang and Louis Stokes Scholars Program Receive Ohio State Bar Foundation Awards

October 2014

The Ohio State Bar Foundation honored Carter Strang with its Ramey Award for Community Service at the Foundation’s Annual Meeting and Awards Dinner on November 7. The Ramey Award is given annually to an Ohio attorney who adheres to the Foundation’s goal to better Ohio’s justice system with integrity, honor, courtesy, and professionalism, and honors the recipient’s lifetime of non-compensated service outside of his or her practice to the betterment of the community.

The Foundation also presented its Outstanding Program Award to the Louis Stokes Scholars Program. The program was established in 2012 by the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association, through its then-president Carter Strang, to promote diversity and inclusion in the legal profession. The program provides paid legal internships for graduates of the Cleveland and East Cleveland Municipal School Districts who are pursuing a career in law.
