On July 24, at the request of Congressman John Mica (R-Fla.), Joe Koncelik participated in a federal real property roundtable in Washington, D.C. The roundtable addressed the federal government’s approximately 77,000 underutilized and vacant buildings, with more than 14,000 declared no longer needed for federal purposes. The roundtable examined the government’s problems with disposing of vacant and brownfield properties and recommendations for improving the General Services Administration procedures for disposing of such properties, including leveraging the expertise of the private sector. Joe provided his expert opinion regarding strategies for efficiently addressing the environmental issues affecting the disposition of these federal properties.
